The Elder is the Pastor's advisor, helper and prayer partner. He is a loyal supporter to the Pastor, assisting him to fulfill the goals God has given him for the local church. Elders seek to develop a close relationship with one another through mutual prayer, worship and cooperative co-laboring with the Pastor and his staff. Elders promote goodwill among the congregation, and strengthen the people's confidence in their Pastor and his leadership. The spiritual interest and welfare of the congregation are their concern and responsibility. The term "Elder" is recognized as synonymous with the words Presbyter, Bishop and "Pastor," but the man called of God to serve as the head Elder, is referred to as the Pastor.
